Then read her excellent article on how Gates is funding the Department of Education to hold labor-management conferences to help with implementation of Common Core.

One Response to Teacher Mercedes Schneider Shreds Common Core

  • Susan Wilcox says:

This sounds like me – with the STRONG words about the interference of the teacher in the classroom. I totally agree. Everyone should listen to this. If you haven’t already heard ME complaining, as a teacher, about having my esteem, training, and utter power dissolved in my own classroom by Common Core attitudes and POORER standards than what my students and I would like to have to RIGHT to accomplish.

“Whatever an education is, it should make you a unique individual, not a conformist; it should furnish you with an original spirit with which to tackle the big challenges; it should allow you to find values which will be your roadmap through life; it should make you spiritually rich, a person who loves whatever you are doing, wherever you are, whomever you are with; it should teach you what is important, how to live and how to die.” — John Taylor Gatto, Dumbing us Down: The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling
