Bill Number: HB 171
Bill Title: APPRENTICESHIP AUTHORIZATION ACT
Bill Grade: A
Bill Sponsors: Rep. Jacob Anderegg
Creates a way for students at least 16 years old to work in an apprenticeship for credit.
Does the bill increase/decrease local control?: Neither
Does it increase/decrease parental rights?: Neither
Does it help/hurt children?: Helps Children
How?: By allowing children to choose to pursue an interest in a field of work outside of school and get school credit for it.
Any conflicts of interest?:
My only concern would be how this bill plays into the hands of school-to-work advocates. As long as this is a choice students have and they can freely pursue it, then I think this is a good bill as it expands personal agency.
